FAT DISSOLVING

Fat dissolving injections are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that involves injecting a solution into the targeted area to break down and dissolve fat cells. Aqualyx is a injectable treatment used to reduce localised fat deposits in areas such as the chin, abdomen, thighs, and hips. It contains a solution of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to break down and absorb fat.

​Treatment & Events

 

The process of injecting Aqualyx or fat injections involves:

 

1. Consultation: a consultation is recommended to determine if Aqualyx is the right treatment for you. During the consultation we will examine the area to be treated, and discuss the expected results. 

 

2. Preparation: Before the injection, the area to be treated is cleaned and disinfected. A numbing cream may be applied to minimise any discomfort during the injection.

 

3. Injection: The Aqualyx solution is injected into the targeted area using a fine needle. The deoxycholic acid solution works to dissolve the fat cells, causing them to release their contents into the bloodstream. The body then processes and eliminates the dissolved fat cells through the lymphatic system.

4. After treatment, a massage will be done in the the area treated.

 

The number of treatments recommended depends on the individual and the area being treated. Typically, 2-8 treatments are recommended, spaced 4 weeks apart.

Results can be seen after the second treatment, but optimal results are usually seen after the full course of treatments. Aqualyx injections also provide long-lasting results. Once the fat cells have been dissolved and eliminated from the body, they do not return. However, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, a balanced diet and regular exercise, to ensure that the remaining fat cells do not expand.

Fat dissolving injections are generally safe and effective. However, as with any procedure, there are potential risks and side effects. You will experience swelling or discolouration of the skin and tenderness, and most likely you will have some bruising. The area will feel tender for 7- 10 days and may appear swollen for this period. It is important to avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for at least 24 hours after the injections​. 

 

Bruising or swelling to the treated areas can develop in the hours/days afterwards, and it is therefore advisable that the treatment is performed at least 2 weeks before any event.

Please note that Aqualyx® fat dissolving injection is a body contouring treatment, not a weight loss solution.

FAT DISSOLVING CONTRAINDICATIONS

Unfortunately some treatments are not suitable for everyone.  
Some include: Undergoing chemotherapy, skin cancer pregnant/nursing, HIV/AIDS,  rosacea, Solar Keratosis, Acne Vulgaris Stage III-IV, Anticoagulants / Blood thinners (including but limited to Warfarin or aspirin), diabetic, autoimmune disease,  taking roaccutane, prone to keloid scarring, allergies to needles, any infection.
