PDO THREADS

A  minimally invasive procedure for skin rejuvenation, facial lifting, and contouring.

PDO Threads

Polydioxanone (PDO) thread treatment is a revolutionary aesthetic procedure that serves as a non-surgical alternative to traditional face lifts. It uses absorbable PDO threads to rejuvenate the skin, provide a natural lift and enhance facial contours.

PDO threads are synthetic absorbable surgical sutures that have been used in medical procedures for several decades due to their safety and compatibility with the human body. In the world of aesthetic medicine, they are delicately inserted into the skin to achieve immediate lifting effects and stimulate collagen production.

The Benefits of PDO Thread Treatment

1. Immediate Results: A significant lift and contouring effect can be observed immediately after the treatment.

2. Natural-Looking: The gradual collagen production results in a natural-looking lift and rejuvenation over time.

3. Safe & Minimal Side Effects: The PDO threads are biocompatible and biodegradable, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or complications.

4. Non-Surgical: It's a great non-surgical alternative to traditional facelifts with minimal recovery time.

5. Stimulates Collagen Production:PDO threads promote collagen synthesis, leading to healthier, firmer and more youthful-looking skin over time.

What is Involved in the Treatment

The PDO thread treatment process is simple and minimally invasive:

1. Consultation: The process begins with a consultation where we will asses your skin condition and discuss your desired results.

2. Preparation: The treatment area is then cleaned, and a local anesthetic is applied to minimize discomfort.

3. Thread Insertion: Using a thin needle, the PDO threads are inserted into the skin in specific directions and depths depending on the desired effect. The process can take between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the treatment area and number of threads used.

4. Lifting & Contouring: Once the threads are in place, they are slightly tightened to create an immediate lift. The threads also create a 'controlled injury' that stimulates collagen production.

5. Aftercare: The procedure has minimal downtime, but slight swelling or bruising may occur. These side effects are generally short-lived, and most clients can return to their regular activities within a few days. We will provide aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth healing process.

PDO thread treatment offers both immediate and longer-term results

Immediate Results: Right after the procedure, you can typically see an instant lift due to the physical support and repositioning of the tissues with the threads. However, please note that there might be some swelling or bruising initially, which can temporarily affect the final outcome.

Longer-Term Results: The real magic of PDO threads unfolds over the following weeks and months. As the threads gradually dissolve, they stimulate the body's natural healing response and promote collagen production, which helps to improve skin texture, elasticity, and volume. This process can take anywhere from 1 to 6 months, with optimal results usually visible around the 2 to 3 month mark post-procedure.

Individual results may vary based on a variety of factors, including age, skin type, lifestyle, and the specific treatment area. It's also worth noting that maintaining a healthy lifestyle with good skincare routine, sun protection, balanced diet, and regular exercise can help enhance and prolong the effects of your PDO thread treatment.

Areas for PDO Thread Treatment

PDO thread treatment can be effectively used in several areas of the face. The most common areas include:

 1. Forehead and Temples: To lift sagging brows and smooth out forehead wrinkles.

 2. Eyebrows: To give a non-surgical brow lift and enhance the eyebrow shape.

 3. Cheeks: To lift sagging cheeks and restore volume.

 4. Nasolabial Folds: To smooth out deep lines running from the nose to the corners of   the mouth.

 5. Jawline Or Jowls: To define and lift the jawline, reducing the appearance of jowls.

 6. Marionette Lines: To smooth out lines running from the corners of the mouth   down to the chin.

 7. Neck Lift: To lift and tighten sagging skin on the neck.

Side Effects of PDO Thread Treatment

As with any aesthetic procedure, there are potential side effects to PDO thread treatment. These are usually mild and resolve on their own within a few days to 2 weeks. They may include:

1. Swelling: Some swelling is normal immediately after the procedure and usually subsides within a few days.

2. Bruising: Some minor bruising may occur at the site of thread insertion, but it usually disappears within a week.

3. Discomfort or Pain: There might be a mild sensation of tightness or discomfort in the treated area for a few days after the treatment.

4. Infection:  Although rare, there is a small risk of infection, which can be minimized with proper aftercare and hygiene.

 5. Facial Asymmetry: Although infrequent, there can be a temporary unevenness in the face due to swelling or due to the placement of the threads. This usually corrects itself as the swelling subsides and the threads settle.

How Often Should You Have PDO Thread Treatment

The frequency of PDO thread treatment largely depends on your individual goals, the area treated, and how your body responds to the treatment.

Typically, the results of PDO thread treatment can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. The threads themselves will dissolve within 9 months, but the collagen production stimulated by the treatment continues to have effects long after the threads have dissolved.

For maintaining the rejuvenating effects, some clients might choose to have additional treatments about 6 to 9 months after the initial treatment, especially if the treatment was used to address deep lines or severe sagging.
